DIFFICULTY: Medium
Well, it's already the start of a new month! That means a new monthly project and a new theme, which is really exciting! The theme for the month is Saying Thank You and today's challenge (and the challenge for the rest of the month) is to make thank you jars! I've never made a thank you jar before, but they seem relatively easy! I got the idea from the 29-Day Giving Challenge (another great site!). Basically, you can take a regular jar you would use for jam or anything else and decorate it. (At first I thought it would be difficult to find the jars, but they sell them at most grocery stores.) You could tie ribbon the lid and decorate the top! The most important part though, is to fill the jar with little pieces of paper thanking the person you are giving it to for everything they have done for you. You could fill it with 30 things or 365 things, so they could take one each day for a month or a year. It may take awhile to get a list of things, cut them out and make the jars, but I'm going to add making at least 10 Thank You jars to my goals list!
Today, I also heard of something called the Refresh Everything project by Pepsi. They've been running commercials about it and I also read about it at one of my favorite sites, Operation Nice. The Refresh Everything project is a way for Pepsi to give back to the community while getting everyone else involved to! You have the opportunity to vote for different community projects to receive grant money, either 5,000, 25,000, 50,000, or 250,000 dollars for a total of 1.3 million dollars! So check out the site and vote for one of your favorites!
