DIFFICULTY: Hard
A couple things.
First of all, I'm sorry I haven't posted in a long time! I'm still in the process of applying to colleges and taking standardized tests so things have been a bit crazy!
Second of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to write in the guest book at the left. It really, really means a lot to me to know that someone else has been able to take something away from this project! Your support is greatly appreciated :)
Now down to business!

So, I admit it, I probably couldn't live without my computer.
I can't remember the last time I used an encyclopedia or a dictionary. I have absolutely no idea how the Dewey Decimal System works. Class projects become infinitely harder when I find out we're required to use print resources. I even take a class online for school! It's pretty safe to say that my computer has played a pretty big role in my education.
The thing about computers and the internet is that they connect the world on a larger scale. They make a limitless amount of information easily accessible and learning simpler. Students need to know how to use technology to become part of the global economy.
That's why today's challenge is to provide a child with a laptop! The One Laptop Per Child does just that, and you can read/learn more about their mission on their website. The have designed their own laptop that connects kids to the internet, is relatively inexpensive, and is really, really durable. It also has learning software on it, and is designed specifically to meet the needs of children. They provide these laptops to kids for free, giving children the chance for a brighter future and a better education. Pretty awesome, right?
I categorized this as "hard" because donating a laptop is $199, but if you're willing to donate that much, the process is as simple as donating anywhere else online! Of course, you don't have to donate $199, you can give any amount you feel comfortable giving, or support the organization by spreading the world!
