DIFFICULTY: Easy
Today I thought it'd be nice to take a little break from all of the environmental posts to show another way you can give back! It's actually kind of related because it involves recycling, and it's all centered around something called Keys for Kindness. They aren't exactly a huge organization, by any means, but Keys for Kindness was started as a small effort by one person to raise money for a cause that she cared about. When people donate keys, the metal gets melted down and sold. The money raised from this is then donated to the M.S. Society, which is a great cause! I know I definitely have a bunch of keys around my house, some that we probably no longer use! It's recycling, getting rid of old things, and helping to end Multiple Sclerosis. You can send them an email if you have any questions, or simply mail your keys to this address:
Keys for Kindness
P.O. Box 201, Pearl River, NY 10965
If anyone is wondering what M.S. is, it's a chronic disease that affects the nervous system. It has several causes, is more common in women than men, and is not genetic (although genes may have a factor in it). There's still a lot that isn't known about it, but if you're interested you can read more here.
Here's a video made by the M.S. Society that tries to explain how it affects the body. It's not exactly the most interesting video ever, but it's definitely informative and really helps you understand what the disease is like:
