DIFFICULTY: Easy
Wow, almost at day 50, that's awesome! :)
Anyways, what does Dove have to do with self-esteem? A lot! Up until recently, Dove has been marketing their beauty products entirely to women! Being involved in a market like that has to make you aware of self-esteem issues, and it definitely did for Dove. They've created whole programs based on educating women and encouraging better self esteem. According to their self-esteem report, 7 out of 10 girls don't believe they're good enough in looks, relationships, or school performance. Even more importantly, though, is the fact that 75% of girls with low self-esteem engage in negative activities like bullying, smoking, drinking, or disordered eating. That's a huge problem affecting a lot of people! So how can you help? First of all, becoming educated is really important. It's also important to be supportive of all the women in your life, and even the ones that aren't. Operation Beautiful is a good example of this.
Another way to help out is by supporting Dove's (and other) programs that support good self esteem. You can do this by donating, or even more conveniently, using the Dove products you may already buy. Dove used to do something where they let your enter the UPC codes for your products, but I think they've switched to donating a percentage of their revenue to these programs. If you go here you can see the impact good self-esteem has on young girls.
On a side note, another penny for the Changepot and 4 more tabs for the count! :)
