This is, by far, one of my favorite challenges! Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hair pieces to disadvantaged children under 21 that suffer from any diagnosis that causes hair loss. One of my favorite parts of this organization is a part of their mission statement:

I think that's pretty amazing! What's even better is that people like you and I can help out without doing much of anything. It also doesn't matter what age you are, anyone can donate. It's simple! All you have to do is grow out your hair until you can cut at least ten inches off (it ends up being more like 11 after your hairdresser styles it). Most hairdressers have done it before, but you put your hair in a ponytail, cut it, and mail it in! You have to fill out a simple form and then mail it to the address printed on their website. At this link you'll find more detailed instructions and the answers to a lot of questions about donating. Overall, it's a really easy process.
I actually did this in 2009 and just yesterday my hair was long enough again, so I cut it for a second time! Once they use your hair, they mail you a card saying thank you. It's a great feeling :)
On a side note, don't forget tomorrow is Martin Luther King Day of Giving Back! Many towns hold fundraisers or other charity related events, so check them out!
