Lately, I've started running again, and I'm beginning to think about how difficult it must be to run without a pair of sneakers. Sure, running isn't exactly a necessity of life, but it is important. It's the easiest way to keep yourself in shape and make your body healthier and stronger, which has been a pretty recurrent theme recently. Nearly every day I hear something on tv or in class about how America's kids need to lose weight and start exercising again, which is definitely something we should probably be doing more often. However, it's much more difficult to exercise if you can't afford a pair of sneakers or your school can't raise enough money to build a new basketball court.

However, an idea I thought was especially creative was the ReUSE A SHOE program by Nike. They take old shoes that you can't use or donate and tear them into three pieces, the rubber bottom, the foam inside, and the outside fabric. Respectively, these pieces are turned into running tracks, basketball courts, and tennis courts! They also make playgrounds and soccer fields. Pretty awesome, right? Especially because they're making more opportunities for athleticism while also recycling old materials! Here's a video on how it works:
