DIFFICULTY: Easy
Wow! May really seems to have snuck up on me! Anyways, a new month means a new theme and a new project. This one is a relatively easy one compared to last month's! This month's challenge is to write letter's to your congressmen/senators/whoever you see fit to advocate for human rights. Peace and human rights is the theme for this month! Almost all of the issues we face in the world today have to do with a lack of peace and the basic human rights that everyone deserves to have. If you remember, one of my challenges a few days ago was to reread an inspirational book to remind me of why I'm doing Love, Anonymously. The book I chose was Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. You can read more about it in the Get Inspired! section, but it tells the story of a young boy who gets dragged into a war in his country. It does an amazing job of showing the devastation that war and a lack of human rights can have countries and the individuals that compose it.
Peace isn't something that happens over night, and neither is a guarantee of basic rights for all. However, there is always something we can do to help! Human Rights Watch has an excellent online action center here that not only gets you involved by helping you to write letters to important people in our government to spur action, it can also keep you informed of current issues and how we can all combat them.
